As World Water Week comes to an end, The Ohio State University has renewed its commitment to sustainability with the creation of the Global Water Institute, a new innovation cell dedicated to sustainable systems solutions to complex water issues. The Institute designation was made official Thursday by a vote of the University Senate with President Michael Drake presiding.

Other water-related accomplishments this week include:

• Ohio State participation in the White House Water Summit
• Ohio State’s invitation to join the selective U.S. Water Partnership
• Announcement of a Fulbright Scholar award for a researcher supporting the WE³ Program in Tanzania
• Release of the first annual report of the Harmful Algal Bloom Research Initiative co-led by Ohio State
